Local practice groups and workshops are mostly lead by students of NVC, with varying levels of experience.  Unless specifically identified, none of the facilitators are Certified CNVC trainers.  The groups are self-forming, and the only requirement for hosting a practice group or workshop is a desire to learn, grow and contribute to others in this way.  Your experience will vary widely between groups, so if your needs are not met in one group, you are invited to make requests to get them met, or find another group.

5.
September 20th -- Learning From Our Mistakes: Transforming self-criticism into clarity about what we value with Josh Mann

*****************************************************************

PRESENTER: Josh Mann
PRESENTER’S NVC EXPERIENCE: Josh Mann is an aspiring wise person who enjoys helping people reflect on personal experiences as a way to remember and act from what they most value. For the last three years, he has been integrating Nonviolent Communication (NVC) into his way of thinking, speaking, and listening and recently participated in a nine-day International Intensive Training led by Marshall Rosenberg. He is especially interested in using NVC as a tool for resolving internal conflicts and transforming self-criticism into self-awareness and self-acceptance. Since graduating from the University of Oregon in 2003, Josh has practiced a variety of forms that complement NVC, including challenge course (ropes course) facilitation, Zen Buddhist meditation, Argentine tango, Aikido, Playback Theater, and Voice Dialogue. In addition to leading introductory workshops, Josh offers sessions to individuals who want to learn about and increase their
skill in Nonviolent Communication.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Most of us have learned to blame and criticize ourselves when we do things that somehow don't fit with our values. Unfortunately, rather than helping us learn from our mistakes, self-criticism leads to shame, guilt, and depression - cutting us off from our own life and what we value. In this workshop, you will be presented with a model for transforming self-criticism into greater clarity about what is important to you. The workshop is inspired by and draws heavily upon Nonviolent Communication, based on the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg.
PREVIOUS NVC EXPERIENCE REQUESTED?: No; however, it will be helpful if participants come with critical messages they often tell themselves that they are willing to share with the group.
DATE(S): Saturday, September 20th, 2008
TIME: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
LOCATION: Eugene, OR (specific location TBA)
DONATION REQUESTED: $10 - $20
TO REGISTER: Please contact the presenter before Sunday, September 14th, 2008 at willamette_mann@yahoo.com or 503.679.0495
FOR MORE INFO: Contact the presenter. See above.
